I guess that when you grow up live in the same place for your entire life that there seems to be so many constants to the summer season. I am one of 5 girls in my family, the middle child that is the only one who is blonde haired, blue eyed and left handed. And yes, I was the best of the 4 of us who played softball in high school and afterward. So I guess you can see that my summers were occupied by softball, softball and more softball. In between softball was swimming in the backyard pool and berry picking. These days it seems like there is a daily reminder of those summers where I was so focused on me that I barely gave two thoughts to what I see, smell, touch and taste today that remind me of summers past. The daily evening hum of a neighbor's lawn mower, the smell of someone's dinner on their grill, fire flies, thunder storms, wild raspberries and tiger lillies. Tiger lillies grow in abundance in this area. They are along the edges of most of the roads around here as well as in some yards, including mine. I couldn't help but bring some in when I saw them outside of my scraproom window.
They are just gorgeous and such a wonderful reminder of my favorite season of the year. I had to bring a little bit of summer inside! Perhaps they'll give me a little inspiration while I work on my MMM '09 entry.
Thanks for stopping by!
