Finally reconnected

I am finally reconnected to my computer after 2 hours of moving wires, booting up,shutting down, scratching heads, resplicing and finally caving in and talking to FiOs tech support. I am however, very grateful to my son Sean and his friend Jay for doing this work free of charge.

I'll be back tomorrow with lots to share, especially some peeks at some Sunshine albums! Although they were technically due by the 25th, Angie & I will take any albums you may have created but didn't send to us because you thought you missed the "deadline".

Displaced and disconnected

Totally and completely disconnected....from the internet and booted from the living room so that the floor can get refinished tomorrow. And apparently I'm stressing over nothing-or so I'm told by Tim Tooltime and his son. I can't remember the last time I was without internet. It's been that long. You see, the computer is being moved into my scraproom and the cad 5 cables have to be re run to there. So I wait...and call Ruth and whine about no computer and she invites me over to borrow hers and have a margarita to put everything into perspective. Thank God for sympathectic friends and tequila. I'll be back to blogging when I sober up and my computer gets moved....probably in a few days. Just kidding.

The Sunshine albums are still arriving. It's great. If you want to create one and need more time just email me and let me know. I'm flexible within a couple of days closer to the deadline.

Totally from the heart

I was in the shower on Monday when I thought I heard the door bell ring. It's a new wireless doorbell and I had not heard it ring until then. Mind you it's been installed since October of 2007. What can I tell you? Apparently visitors knock on our door instead of ringing the new bell....

At any rate, after I got out and got dressed I went to the door to find these...

 

Aren't these sweet? They were made by  Senior Girl Scout Troop # 2496. One of their troop leaders is a scrapping friend of mine-Kathleen Burleson. She stopped by and dropped them off . Kathleen recruited her troop members Leslye Burleson, Amanda O'Mally , co leader Eileen Gleba, Kathleen's other daughter Lauren and Amanda's mom Susan to create these albums. Thanks girls! They're awesome!

Thursday was a really heavy day at work. Sometimes it's hard, really hard. The cases are intense, the patient is sick and you have to remain on the ball and focused for hours on end. When I got home last night I was physically and emotionally drained, but life came back into perspective when I found this in the kitchen

What a great note! Thank you Tracy! You made my day as much as the door bell on Monday! Tracy happens to be the mystery blogger that I linked in a post with her mini albums she created. Here they are again for those of you who didn't get over to her blog yet.

 

They are really great. I particularly like this one because I think it sums up the purpose of this project in a nutshell

I came home tonight much less tired than last night (due to the fact that I only had one craniotomy in my room instead of 2) and found something else waiting for me

 

More gifts from the heart. And the roasting pan too, but that's just from my mother-in-law who is a great shopper and so generously bought it for me-thanks mom! You'll have to wait until tomorrow to see what's in this package because I hear my pillow calling me. I want to thank everyone so far who has sent me the best mail anyone could receive. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your albums!

Hello Handsome

 

Luke has turned one year old this past week. He's become quite handsome and is so smart! We'll be taking training classes in rally obedience this winter and will hopefully start to compete in late February or early March. I'm looking forward to helping Lisa  earn titles on him! He's such a great dog! He makes my heart go pitter pat!

Coming to fruition

When I jumped into the Sunshine Albums Project with Angie I really had no idea how successful we would be in our drive. Would anyone respond to our request? Would anyone take time from their busy lives and make an album? How many will help? A few? Dozens? Hundreds? We had no idea. So we waited, then I was flooded with emails. 50-60 a day from volunteers willing to help us from Hawaii to Canada.  The response has been humbling, overwhelming and heartwarming.   I had a link pop up in my blog stats today several times. It made me curious so I investigated it. This is what I found. I don't know her name but I am so touched by what she has done for the children of Maria Fareri and Cardinal Glennon Hospitals. These are the first albums I have seen that are from someone I don't know.( The albums I have so far are from scrapping friends and myself) They are unique. They are perfect. They are awesome. They will make a child happy.  I'm glad I had the opportunity to share the photos of them with you. I hope that I can do the same for all of the albums that come my way. I know that each and every one will come from the heart. I am so lucky to be a part of such a fabulous network of artists, bloggers, crafters and all around great people. I am really looking forward to donating the albums on December 1st.

I am a scrap saver

Yes, I am and if you are too, there's nothing to be ashamed of! I do have a general rule that in order to be "scrap box worthy", a scrap of patterned paper or cardstock has to be at least 4"x4" or larger. I have read on message boards and watched tutorials on blogs that have had great ideas for storing scraps. Most savers have a file system. Me, I'm not anal and don't mind digging through the box so the box storage is fine for me.

Since you have decided to save your scraps do you ever think about how you are going to use them in other projects? I have a blog friend who has to great video tutorials on her blog today. I love when people share their ideas and talents. Julie does this almost every day. Stop by her blog and check out the ideas she has for using scraps.  You're gonnna dig the music! Oh! And just to let you know, I found out something today-Julie's a scrap saver too!

Tell me your ideas on how you utilize your scraps and how you store them and I'll post them later in the week.

Eagerly waiting

The response to the Sunshine Albums drive has been awesome. I have received so many emails from people who are eager to help. I am looking forward to seeing my mailman leave packages on my front porch soon and I know Angie is too!
