What am I up to?

Purging, sorting and finishing a few projects that have been on my desk for eons. I had to finish this little birthday cupcake mini album and send it off to someone. It is long over due!

 

I used a Maya Rd chipboard album, Making Memories paint and My Mind's Eye patterned papers. I just have to finish sanding the edges and put the chipboard "1" on the front and its done.

I also did this little ornament by covering a creative imaginations blank chipboard star with Basic Grey paper. I almost sealed it and then I realized I have to have the photo for it first! OOPS!

 

I got this neat little gift from my good friend Ruth. She can't resist a sale! She's too good to me!

 

I think I'm going to use some of Basic Grey's Ambrosia or Boxer paper to cover it. I'm hoping to work on it tomorrow.

I was sad to hear that Scenic Route is closing its doors. I ordered some paper and rub ons before they were gone for good. They do allow consumers to purchase from their site if you are interested. You can find them here . You'll need to create an account before making any purchases.

The dog ate my homework

I figure that's a better excuse than the lame "Typepad just sucked my post into cyber oblivion". I'm sure more people can relate to the dog story better.

It probably wasn't Typepad at all. It was probably my computer. I went to edit something and got that wierd blinking hour glass and couldn't edit, so had to do the "control alt delete" technique to make it stop, which it did, then I retrieved my saved post to edit it and the same thing happened again. This time my post wasn't saved. GRRRRRRRRRRR!

So, here's the highlights of my original post. In bullet or Sharyn Tormanen form.

* I finished the layout I was working on. I had it in this post. I can't decide if it is done or if it needs more.

* Tell me what you think. Perhaps I'm just not used to having so much white space on a layout. (which by the way is the exact statement I tried to edit that got me into this bullet form/Tormanen style post)

* Jill has Wordplay Challenge #22 up on her blog. It's been there for a couple of weeks but I forgot to tell you. Sorry!

* Don't forget that the Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Dept in my hospital is hosting a fundraiser crop in November. You can download your registration form from here.

* I'm going to watch the Yankees Red Sox game and eat the piece of dulce de leche cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory that I brought home last night and hid in the back of the refridgerator.

* I think I'm not liking the bullets...I'm generally a writer at heart. Sorry Torm. I don't like bullets and I don't like Mondays (She knows about the Monday thing).

Facebook Fun

Apparently today is "Talk like a pirate day". This was told to me by Sudie Alexander, the owner of UnKit.

So I went to my settings on my Facebook page and changed my language from English to Pirate. Now my page looks like this

Too funny! I hope it's clear enough for you to see it! The only problem now is that there's "issues" on FB and none of my posts are saving, so the whole excitement of trying this application just fizzled out! Bummer!

So if you're interested in talking like a pirate today then go to settings, then language and pick english(pirate). Have fun!

Got paint?

 

Why, yes I do! And I think maybe it's about time I started to incorporate it into some projects. My good friend Ruth can't resist a sale and happened to drop off 8 bottles for me....twice. There's also a little embossing powder that leaked from some container somewhere, hense the dusty look.

I was working on a LO based on Prima's BAP (Build-a-Page) for July and got stumped on what to do about the journaling. Here is the sketch and my LO so far

 

Can you tell this sketch has been a few places with me?

 

I'm not sure if I like the library card due to its size and I don't have that much to say for the journaling. So far I was thinking about using the card and these alpha stickers, which incidently, I got at M's for $1.

 

or.....these Jenny Bowlin journaling stickers that I got at Colorful Creations in Hyannis, Ma. I'm thinking of the second one or the fourth one along with black alphas instead of green...or maybe use the green alphas...

 

 

I was wondering to myself, "WWSHD" (What Would Stephanie Howell Do?) ? She's the master creator of all things plain, simple and still sophisticated. 

Suggestions? I'm open!

A Crop Fundraiser

As some of you know, I am an OR nurse at Maria Fareri Childrens Hospital in Valhalla, NY. It is a beautiful hospital that does wonderful things medically, theraputically, spiritually and socially for its patients and their families. The Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department has started a scrapbooking group for the parents who have babies in the NICU called "Let Your Star Shine Bright". I have the privilage of volunteering to help out the group on Mondays when I'm off, and it is both a humbling and rewarding experience.

There will be a funraiser Crop for Let Your Star Shine bright in the confrence room of the hospital on Sunday November 22, 2009 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The registration form can be found here. Lunch is included in your registration fee, as well as snacks and drinks.

I will be there! I hope you will be too!
