What is the deal with our mailman? It looks like he punted my box up onto the porch from the sidewalk! Its a good thing there is nothing breakable in this box. I know that because it is my Cocoa Daisy kit. It is such a fabulous kit. It is really eclectic and contains a combination of fun funky colors and patterns as well as some vintage touches.
and the embellies.....
a little Jenny Bowlin, some Maya Rd chipboard, and that ivory colored lace on the right reminds me so much of my grandmother's sewing room. She had oodles and oodles of ribbon and lace. How I wish I had some of it now.
This sheet of GCD Studios paper struck a cord with me as soon as I saw it
My mom was an avid sewer. Not a seamstress by any means, but she loved to sew and since she had 5 daughters, it was both inspirational and economical to make us clothes. This paper reminds me of the cover of the old Butterick or Simplicity patterns. She had them in a cardboard "file" in her sewing corner in the back of the living room. This paper is going to be used to create a layout of the clothes she used to make for us. I remember a lot of matching outfits. I know I have photos too. This is definitely on my creative to do list for next weekend.
This paper is a great springboard for some journaling.
I have a couple of stories about my kids that I can use this for, like the time Sean kicked Pat in the face when he was laying on the couch breaking his nose. There was a lot of blood, a lot of tears and a lot of remorse. I don't even know what provoked it either. Then there was the time Kelle was supposed to be putting her pajamas on and she was just too quiet and gone for a little too long. When I found her, the pajamas were on but there was baby powder everywhere. There is a picture of that one. What a mess!
I got a fabulous gift for my birthday today from my husband. He is such a critical thinker. He actually bought me a studio lighting system so I can take better pictures of my projects. Right now I either take them outside and put them on the sidewalk for the natural light or use the dining room table. He also gave me a Scott Kelby book on digital photography and a book on using a flash for weddings and portraits. I am looking forward to playing with the lighting system after next weekend and the flash photography book came at the perfect time. We are using flash and diffusers in class now. I have an assignment due in 2 weeks when class starts up again. I'll have bookmarks throughout this book by the end of the evening for sure!
I can see that it is raining again. One would think that there would not be a single drop left after the 3" we got yesterday and overnight. I guess I should be glad it isn't snow. The weatherman said this morning that if all of the rain was snow we would have gotten 3-4 feet. Whoa!! Thanks, but no thanks! I am totally ready for spring to come!
Thanks for stopping by!
