I am working on a final project for my digital photography class. I decided to do my project on my daughter. She trains standardbred race horses and I thought it would make a good topic to shoot. I spent the evening at Yonkers Raceway tonight escorted by the Public Relations manager. There are strict rules about photography there, so I could not be alone. I spent time in the paddock and then at the finish line. I met the photographer who takes the winner's circle photos. I was incredibly impressed at his rapid shot perfect tack sharp pictures. When I grow up I'm going to be just like him! He actually took me out onto the track to take a picture of the horses as they cross the finish line. He had me change my ISO and my shutter speed as the horses rounded the turn, then all of a sudden they were there.
Yep, I have a ways to go before I am as good as the guy who takes these pictures for the track. I do, however, really like how this picture came out
and this one
Out of 125 pictures, only 2 are worthy to keep. So I guess I have to get some super shots on Thursday and Saturday. Maybe I am just too critical....
Thanks for stopping by!
